I somehow missed blogging about our entire summer. Maybe Covid just has me feeling blue since we missed our usual big trip to Idaho and Canada. Maybe I'm working 50-60 hours a week and up at 3AM most days. Maybe it's a bit of both. But, we actually did have a good summer. We tried to do fun little trips with the kids so that it wasn't a total boring summer.
We've heard of this place called Bullpen forever and have always wanted to go. It's not that far from here, maybe an hour drive, but it's down a crazy dirt road that we probably had no business taking a mini van. But, we did anyway, and we are darn glad we did.
When you see a bunch of green trees in a valley, you know you've found lots of water.
We were advised to bring some inner tubes and it was so nice to float around.
I wish there was a place on this wall somewhere to jump off, but it wasn't deep enough.
Here's Noah and Clara swimming back from the little beachy area.
We hung out there for several hours and had lunch. But, we all decided we needed to see the main spot with the cliff that everyone jumps off. So, we hiked the mile back to the car and then another mile the opposite way to get to Bullpen.
And here it is... It was more crowded than this, but it wasn't awful.
Noah jumped off the little ledge. Since we aren't able to jump off the pier in Canada this year, this was the next best thing.
Emily jumped in.
Ben's turn.
But, of course, my kids wanted to go higher, so the jumped from almost the top. David didn't want them to do the top since someone had said it hurt their ear drums. So, here's Emily and Ben jumping.
Then, Noah had to do it. Emily was so sweet and helped him up there.
It took about 5 minutes of deep breaths and false starts, but he finally went for it.
I was so glad he did it. I know him and I know he would've regretted not doing it later. The kids jumped and played. I jumped too!

Looks like a really beautiful place. I would never jump as I do not swim and even if I did, there would be no jumping, lol, but I love hiking and that looks like a great place to do it! :) We hope to do more hiking as we move into cooler, autumn months, but we've had a good, long hot summer here (we get really bad humidity which makes the temps feel even hotter and unbearable), but I've enjoyed it over all. Despite Covid, we've seen more people this summer than in past summers - we've entertained at our house many times, always for small groups at a time and always with social distancing measures in place. This next week, two friends - sisters of my first boyfriend, whom I haven't seen in over 30 years are coming in for a 4-night, 3 day visit. You wouldn't even know there's a pandemic going on at our house, lol, and hopefully we will remain safe throughout all of these visits. Anyway, I'm glad to read your update as I checked off and on all summer and wondered if you were going to write again. Love to you and yours,
Linda
I have to admit I didn't check back after the back to school post , figuring you hadn't done another. Boy was I surprised. This was a great post and don't think I had seen any of those pics during the hiking season...
Love that you all found a place to do your "pier jumps". Not the same but a good substitution.
Love
