San Diego, Day 6, Legoland

We went to Legoland today. I had never been, so I was just as excited as the kids.

Noah loved this ride. It was about the only ride he could go on.

But gosh was he a good baby. He didn't sleep the entire time and he just went with the punches.

It was hard not to stop at every structure for a picture. They really are very impressive.

Here are David and Ben on the free fall. There was lots of baby swapping today which was awesome.

And this is where I need to insert a bad parenting moment...
To save time, I thought I would take Emily and Ben on the car driving ride for 3-5 year olds. Emily turned 6 about 45 days ago. What's the big deal right? I had told Emily if the lady asks to say she is 5. She tells me she can't do that. So I said, "Fine, I'll tell her." We get to the front of the line and the lady asks each kid. She gets to Emily and asks her. Emily says nothing. I said, "She's 5." The lady asks Emily, "Are you 5?" Emily says, "No, I'm 6." The lady told me she would have to ride the cars for 6-13 year olds. Another ride, another line. I'm ticked. I try to convince the lady that it's a month what difference does it make? And then I did something that I'm ashamed of. I told Emily she should have just lied. What was I thinking?

David took her to the older driving ride.

And then I apologized and told her that I did the wrong thing and she was right not to lie.

There were several rides that the kids could go on together. So David and I would hang back with Noah and let them. As we get older our ability to handle nonstop rides is decreasing. And here they are holding hands in line.

Emily HAD to have a Shamu stuffed animal at Sea World, so we hadn't gotten Ben a souvenir yet. David spotted these characters with superhero bodies and we had to get one for him. This is when he saw it for the first time.

Legoland was a lot of fun. We got in for half price with some coupons I had and the lines were very short or nothing at all. Overall, it was a great day.
Tomorrow is our last day.
And we plan to spend it on the beach!

San Diego, Day 5, A Day At The Bay

This is my niece from last night. She is feeding Abby Cadabby goldfish. She is so stinkin' cute.


Today was another beach day. But instead of going 5 houses down to the ocean, we went 10 houses the opposite way to mission bay. In the morning the high tide of the ocean is a bit much for the kids. The bay is calm and the kids loved it.

Noah has perfected this cheesy grin whenever I take out the camera.

The kids took turns being pulled around on the boogie board.


Noah was happy to sit on the blanket and watch the action. He's not a fan of sitting or crawling on the sand.

I have no idea what he is doing here.

Ben likes to pick up chunks of sand and throw them in the water.

Emily was giving paddle boarding a try.

It didn't go so well. But, she kept trying and was having fun.

This afternoon, we took the boardwalk down to Belmont Park to get ice cream. I don't know why Emily is walking the other direction in this picture.

Emily got mint chip.

Ben got cookies and cream.

I got Dulche de Leche. Then, Emily tried mine and wanted mine. So, I starting eating the mint chip. Then, Ben wanted to try the mint chip and he liked it. So, I ended up eating the cookies in cream. I think I got the third favorite. Isn't that the way it works with Moms? When I pointed it out to David, he said, "That's why I didn't offer anybody mine." He's on to something there.

Noah learned how to clap the other day at Sea World. And now, he has learned how to blow kisses.


He just started giving us real kisses and they are so sweet and slobbery.

On the way home, we walked along the beach to collect seashells.

We found a ladybug. So weird on a beach.

The kids quickly handed me their buckets with shells and went off to the water. It was a little cooler today, but they don't seem to mind.

Tomorrow is Legoland!

San Diego, Day 4, A Day At The Zoo

Today we went to the San Diego Zoo. This was a treat for our kids. The zoo in our town takes about 45 minutes to go through the entire thing. We were at the zoo today for 7 hours.

Yes, Ben is holding his penis in this picture. He had to go to the bathroom, which I realized after I took this picture.

This snake was super cool. He followed David's finger up the tank.

Ben was running everywhere. I would've love to see how many miles we walked today. Ben was a complete trooper and didn't complain once. Emily's foot was hurting after 4 hours and she needed to ride on David's shoulders off and on, but who could blame her. The kids were complete troopers and were up for all of it.

These hippos were too cool.

Emily thought the sheep was stinky. He was.

Ben thought it was cool that he was the head of the spider.

Then he shot webs out the head of the spider.

Emily's favorite was the "tangarangs" as she called them or orangutans.

I doubt the gorilla would enjoy this. I doubt Ben would either if it were a real gorilla.
