Thankful
I think I take a lot for granted in my life. Coming home after 48 hours of having a great time in Vegas with the love of my life, and I'm so thankful to be back to my home. My cushy pillow top bed. My perfect cup of coffee, exactly the way I like it made by my husband every morning. The luxuries of my life that I don't even think twice about.
Today is Veterans Day. I'm sorry to say, the only Veteran that I knew I talked to was my Dad and I was so busy rattling off stuff about my perfect vacation that I didn't even thank him for what he did 47 years ago.

Here's my Uncle Robert in 1965.

This is my Aunt Jeri who also served.

My Aunt Jeri was serving in Foot Hood, Texas and so was my Dad. My Mom went to visit her sister. She met my Dad and the rest is history. I guess I have more than one reason to be thankful for our military.
Tonight, I'll hold my kids a little longer and hug them a little tighter because I missed them. And, I'll think about the brave men and women who do a job that I never could who are missing their kids, their beds and their perfect cup of coffee.

All You Need Is Love
There's a reason why David has never been to Vegas, and I haven't been in 20 years. We don't really gamble and nightlife, well, we are usually asleep by 9:30. But there is so much more to Vegas.
I'll start with the food. It's amazing. We went to a restaurant the first night that my friend on Facebook suggested. Hash House A GoGo. I didn't get my usual salad or burger. I got one of their legendary chicken and waffles. I had never had it and honestly it always sounded weird and kind of gross. Boy was I wrong. Fried chicken breast with maple syrup is one of the best things I've ever had. In fact, I find myself thinking about them. I want them for breakfast. I want them for dinner. I want them right now.
The pool here at The Mirage is over 5 acres. We sat for a few hours by the pool this afternoon. We went swimming and you could just swim and swim for what seemed like forever. People here think it's a little cold. We thought it was perfect. I think at any given time about 5 people were in that entire pool. The waterfalls were awesome too.

Then, there are the shows. Comedians, singers, dancers (topless too). Vegas has it all. We have seen a few cirque du soleil shows and knew we wanted to see Beatles Love. Hands down the best show I've ever seen. So amazing. The music, the costumes, the acrobatics. I LOVED it.
Tonight, I'm grateful for this wonderful experience I had with my husband. All you need is love and everyday is a blessing.

David

Today I'm grateful for a getaway trip to Vegas with my hubby. After 10 years of marriage, we still have a great time together. It's been a fun day doing things so far from our normal daily lives. It's been an adventure and I'm grateful I get enjoy it with David.

Family and Friends
Today, I'm grateful for family. Mine and David's 10th anniversary is Tuesday. To celebrate, we are headed to Vegas this weekend. No kids. We've only been both away from our kids three times in 10 years. Once when Noah was born and I was hospitalized, once when I tagged along with David on a work overnight in Laughlin, and the other when we went for one overnight in Phoenix for a baseball game. That's it.
When we were considering a weekend away, our first thought was our kids. We thought of my Dad and Suzy. My mom. I know our friends Dakri and Ryan would watch them. My best friend Pam would do it too. We are thankful to have such great family and friends. My Dad and Suzy took us up on the offer, and we know our kids are in good hands.
