Gibsons, Day 3

We woke up to another cloudy rainy day. But, we weren't going to let that stop us. We wanted to hike The Knob again.  The last time we went up was 2013.  That was the first summer we came here. It was nice to do it again.
 We found mushrooms.
 It's so pretty and green.
Oh gosh, this makes me nervous. But they did it 6 years ago. David and I walked across too.
 I got in one picture..
Then, came the stairs, over 250 of them!
We finally got to the top. The views are amazing.
David carved DG + GG on this tree 6 years ago. You can still barely see it in the middle.
 The trees! They're amazing!

 Ugh, the log again.
 This place is magical.
Then we almost stepped on this nasty banana slug.
We drove a bit and found a new beach called Secret Beach. It was cool. We like the overcast weather as the beaches are empty.

Then, we came home for lunch and went to the beach by our house.  Noah found a baby starfish.

We relaxed and took naps. The weather was perfect. Not hot, not cold.
Then, we made pizzas for dinner.

 Then, we went pier jumping!

 They swam back.
AAnd finally, Noah being a sea creature.

Gibsons, Day 2

Noah went looking for the neighborhood cats this morning. They love him.  This is Romeo.

 And Coco.  She's 17!
It was cooler and a little rainy but we still went to the beech. We saw a deer along the way.
We love this beech. We get so much heat at home that we enjoy the cooler weather.

 Noah found a dead clam.
 And dead baby starfish.
The tide was super low. Emily went down to the water to investigate.
Ben followed. She found lots of starfish.  They usually aren't at this beach.

We just chilled and enjoyed the empty beach.
We took off after the second rainfall came through.
The neighbors have all these wild raspberries.  We get on the ladder and have a snack.
We had a yummy dinner and went for gelato.  It's tradition.
I don't know why this is out of order, but noah pitched about 100 rocks in the water.
It's supposed to be cooler with possible rain for the next few days, but that won't stop us from going to the beach.

Gibsons, Day 1

I'm blogging from my phone. We went simple and left the.computer at home.  Things will be short and sweet, with many typos.

Yesterday was long. We drove to Phoenix the night before our flight. The last week, the only freeway to the airport has closed 3 times for fires and accidents.  You just never know, so we didn't want to risk it.

We were up and out of the hotel by 6:30. We had a layover in Calgary and we're sure to get Tim Hortons coffee and donuts.

Noah curled up and slept on me. I don't think he'll be able to do this for another year.

The traffic in Vancouver was awful. We got in at rush hour. The rental car wait was ridiculous.  We were waiting forever for the ferry. It was majorily backed up. Then, we got on with the final 2 cars. That was close! It would've been another 90 minute wait.

We met Amy in Vancouver and dropped em off with her for the night. So, we were short a kid on the ferry

But, we made it and slept great and saw a deer this morning.

Pet Party

We don't really celebrate our pets birthdays. But, I mentioned that all of our pets have a birthday in June. Prim turned 1. Rio turned 4 and Rocko turned 12, and that was it. The kids wanted to have a party for them. I think they just wanted brownies. I was just going to ignore them, but then Ben said it's probably Rocko's last birthday, and I was at Dollar Tree buying party hats.

Prim was not a fan.

Rocko was tolerant as always.
Rio wasn't having any part of the hat.

The kitties got to share a can of tuna.

Rocko got a meatball.  :)
So, that was the pet party. We did sing happy birthday too.

In other news, the house for Gwynne and Enrique is coming along great. It got painted inside and out last week.
This is the kitchen looking into the living room.  The pony wall is for the kitchen sink and bar stools on the other side. It's about 1350 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths. I think it will be perfect for them.
They are flying out here on the 30th and spending two weeks with us. The home is supposed to be ready on 8/15!  It's very exciting.
