The last time I was jet lagged, we were on our way to our honeymoon in St. Lucia. That was almost 8 years ago. We had a few fruity drinks with umbrellas in them on the beach and were fine.
Not so much with three little kids. Wow. We were all tired and trying to go to sleep last night. Our condo is very nice, but an elephant seems to be staying in the condo above us. We had plans to head to Sea World for a few hours this morning, but the kids are all sleeping in so it is what it is. We can do that another day.
As for yesterday, everything went smoothly. The drive to Phoenix was uneventful which is always welcome. We park off site from the airport at The Parking Spot. They rock. The shuttle literally was waiting for us to park to take our bags. The check in at Southwest was short and sweet and they offer a family line at the security gate. No waiting. Oh Southwest, how I love thee.
The kids watched half of a movie and colored. Ben didn't want the headphones for the movie on because he wanted to listen to the noise of the plane. He loved the take off and landing and was so happy to stare out the window. He thinks he's superman, so he's as close to flying as he will probably ever get. Emily is only missing 3 days of school, but her teacher sent home over a weeks worth of homework. She did lots of that on the plane. It was a full flight, but David had the one empty seat next to him. That's what happens when you are holding a baby. Nobody wants to sit next to you. So it gave us an extra seat to juggle kids. And it gave David extra room to let Noah crash out.
Then Emily got a little sleepy and laid down on Ben and he started rubbing her head.
Then Noah woke up and took over my Ipod.
He's jamming out to Julie Andrews. If that's possible.
The kids did so so well. Our only hitch was waiting almost an hour at baggage claim for luggage to come out. Ugh, it was horrible. We started playing duck, duck, goose to pass the time. We finally got our luggage and got our rental car and met Grammie at Carrabba's for dinner.
We were all so hungry and had a great meal. Thanks Grammie.
At the end of the day, I asked the kids what their favorite thing was. Emily said, "Nothing, we didn't do anything yet." Ben said, "Everything!". And Noah just screamed.
Let the adventures begin!
